First of all, I want to congratulate for catching my kiriban 12345
Yeah, my kiriban is kinda hidden - but it's specified on my profile page (under the "status"). So I won't be posting journals every time the kiriban comes close because I'll probably forget them myself lol
Next is 15000 - good luck!
Anyways, as you guys can see, I'm seriously into pixels lately. I want to draw some normal illustrations once in a while, but I'll probably be experimenting more with pixels since I have lot of things to improve on But, I think i'm well enough to accept them as commissions - so those will be available too soon.
However, I have some things bugging me for a while about commissions.... They're just my thoughts, so please don't feel offended or anything. I just want people who have told me personally, or thinking about commissioning me know what kind of artist I am before actually commissioning me.
Right.. First of all, it's great to have lot of people asking me about normal commissions (like chibis), but I realized while opening the pixel icons that sometimes I don't feel inspired or enjoy drawing.
You see, I personally am not against original characters no matter how they are well or poorly created - I love making OCs too, so I'm not going to go up to the person and criticize on their design ideas (unless i'm asked to, but frankly I don't really like giving them in the first place.). I will compliment if I like it, but I will shut myself if I don't. But even though I'm not against them, sometimes I feel I don't want to draw them even it is for a commission.
I found this trait especially when I have to do FCs (aka fancharacters), meaning not completely original, but the characters are based on existing works. Now please don't get me wrong: I find many of FCs fun to draw and I do support many of my friends who have them (loving purely on who the characters are). I tried to accept every commissions when I did the pixel icons, but I realized it doesn't work out for me >_> I did had to decline a few, due to poor refs and this FC issue.
So, here's what I'm going to do from now on. I will be declining commissions if I don't want to do it. Without questions please, because I'm not really good at explaining and to avoid fights over this. Just don't get me wrong - in most cases I feel unmotivated because of weaknesses: like for example, I suck at really short hair guys or spiky hairs, or animal faces (like those sonic stuff), or it's because the character is wearing a complicated armor, etc, etc. The list can go on. So... if I ever happen to decline your commission, don't feel offended or ask me why... Just thinking of it that I judged myself that I am not capable to fulfill your expectations. Definitely no Sonic stuff... or Naruto (just because I don't like them). Other fandoms will be considered too.
I think a word that will describe an artist like me is "picky". Since I have my commissions as paypal, I'm taking real money - and I probably shouldn't so picky about what to draw since these people are offering to pay me to draw something for them.... but I'll be honest: I don't want to draw anything I don't want to draw or inspired Even it's a commission, in a way it's my time offered as a service, so I think I can have the right to choose who and what to serve. What's the fun in drawing if I can't enjoy right?
Even with these reasons I have wrote down with my honest feelings, and if you're still interested to commission me when I open them, I'll be happy to get a note and discuss about it
Oh... but one more thing I want to add to this commission issue... It's kinda off topic.
As I have posted on the pixel icon commission page and mentioned this numerous times in the journal..... I. DO. NOT. DO. POINT. COMMISSIONS.
I can understand how some people try asking (which is okay... even though I don't like it), but what I find almost amusing is that they think that asking multiple times will change my answer. When I say no, that's a no, and it will remain as a big fat NO. It just pisses me off. You will be ignored completely, forever.
Setting your groundrules is important...If you keep on doing things you don't like you might grow to resent your art or burn yourself out doing things you hate, and not have energy or inspiration for the things you actually want to do! So yes, I think you're being reasonable.
Congratz for her!! NASDCBSDCBSDCBAI! I missed your Kiriban again.. =___________________=" Btw,, if i'm not wrong this is the 2nd time you wrote a journal just to say, you don't do point commission.. XD
I've never seen you so assertive ;7; I'm glad to see you finally setting some ground rules and respecting your own wants for once~ I'm so happy though... I'm finally getting a PayPal in a week so I can FINALLY use some of dem $70 sitting in my wallet to buy some COMs from you janffjwefweg-- I CAN FINALLY LEGIT IT.
Anywho-- yaddayaddayadda-insert meaningful words here that are supposed to make K? laugh but fails awkwardly since she had to manually insert them-blahblahblah
Ah... I can go on yours bro-- but my tablet took a dive a few days ago, remember? ;A; *Made a funeral journal for it before sending it off* I shall go to Jacktrio ;7; But my stream is gonna be down a week or so... ... My B-day stream is also gonna be post-poned.... JDKAFR-- CURSE YOU ILLNESS! CURSE YOOOO-- *Shot*
Understandable. It's totally your right to refuse drawing a specific subject. I think it's unrealistic for people to expect someone to draw whatever just because they are paying them.
/considers making a joke about point commissions... /decides against it
